Welcome to the Fluorescent Room

Our show has had a fluorescent exhibit for many years. Bruce Geller became the fluorescent room chairman in 1996 and Aaron Rever became his assistant in 1999. Each year we feature about 10 showcases of fluorescent items from around the world in three different wavelengths of ultraviolet (UV) radiation: longwave, shortwave, and midwave.

To see a quick demonstration of what you will see when you visit us at the Denver Show, click on the RED button at the bottom of the display case (below) to turn off the lights and turn on the UV lights. The specimens will fluoresce (glow) different colors because of the UV radiation.

When you are done viewing the specimens under the UV lights,
click on the red button again to turn the lights back on.

We have a "Glow Down" before the show to choose the specimens on loan for our three Denver Gem and Mineral Show Council cases. These are supplemented by other showcases entered by fluorescent mineral collectors from the Fluorescent Mineral Society, who either bring their own cases or borrow them from our show committee.

Every year our exhibit has grown and this year we hope to have our largest ever. Come see for yourself why we have been on Channel 2 for the past three years!
